Portable Air Conditioners
Portable air conditioners are small air conditioning equipment that are usually not fixed to a given space and can be moved with ease from one room to the other. They usually come with flexible duct that is used to throw hot air from the space being cooled to the outside or to a different room. Commonly used by event organizers who rent space for temporary use and keep shifting from one point to another.
Evaporative coolers
These are air conditioning equipment which work using the principle of latent heat for vaporization. Water is known to have high heat capacity and will consume a large amount of heat to change from liquid to gas in the process cooling the space in question. They are suitable for dry areas since they cool by adding moisture to the air. This can push the humidity in the room to extreme if not checked.
Ducted Type AC
They are usually installed inside ceilings and the cold air distributed using insulated ducts and channeled to the desired spaces using grilles and diffusers. At times they are usually installed in spaces with no ceiling. Most desired where aesthetics is very important or where one air conditioner is to be used to cool more than one enclosed spaces. Commonly found in banking halls, executive offices, food stores, restaurants and auditoriums.
VRF Systems Air Conditioner Layout
This is a centralized system with one outdoor unit serving several indoor units. It is an intelligent system where the outdoor is auto-programmed to vary the amount of refrigerant fed to indoor units depending on the cooling/heating load in the confined space where the indoor unit is located. Suitable for commercial applications where the cooling demand keep changing like in banking halls, supermarkets and open office spaces.
Water Cooled Chillers
These are gigantic equipment that uses water as refrigerant. Usually installed at the lowest level of the building and the chilled water channeled via ductwork to different parts of the building via insulated pipes. The heat exchanger has water in the chiller surrounded by water from cooling towers which absorbs heat from it.
Air Cooled Chillers
These are equipment with a heat exchanger which on one side uses hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant to cool water from the building. The chiller usually has cooling coils and fans. The fans suck air through the cooling coils before releasing it at the top. They are usually installed at the highest point of the building, in open space, to necessitate the heat exchange with the ambiance.
Air Curtain
Air curtain are usually meant to form a barrier between two spaces especially in situations where the door cannot be kept closed all the time. They prevent tampered air from leaving an enclosed space and unconditioned air from entering the air conditioned room. They also help to prevent dust from entering a given space. Commonly found above the doors of banks, supermarkets or shops whose doors remain open for the better part of their operation.
Data Center Precision Air Conditioner
This is a form of close control air conditioning where the indoor unit is installed such that the cold air is released in isles. The cold air is usually released from below the floor through perforated floor panels. The racks are usually arranged such that they face each other and come with fans for sucking the cold air from the cold isle before releasing them to the hot isle. The hot isles are usually fitted with grilles, at the roof or close to the roof, that suck the hot air and return it back to the evaporator for cooling. Some evaporators come complete with humidifiers/dehumidifiers.
